Overview

ASES is based on a three-hour program from the end of school until 6:00 pm for students in 1-5th grade. The first hour is dedicated to physical activity. During this time, teachers will assist and teach the students basic skills in season appropriate sports. Here is a list of some of the sports we share with the students: football, basketball, soccer, dance, small equipment (for strengthen motor skills), paddle tennis. (If weather permits, students will receive physical activity daily.)

The second hour is what we call the "Golden Hour". This means that this is one solid hour (60 minutes) of homework time. Teachers are there for support and guidance if the students need extra help during that time. Please remember, ASES is not a tutoring program. We have one teacher to 25-30 students. Your child may need to finish the rest of their homework at home.

Our third and final hour is dedicated to our enrichment programs. Here we try to expose our students to different subject matter. For example, students will experience art classes, science classes, history, and the world around us classes, different cultures and languages. Since we are run through the Boys and Girls Club, we are offered programs that the kids will enjoy. The Boys and Girls Club will send over a program specialist to lead our students. For example, Theater Arts, poetry, different tactical games (flag football teams, soccer teams). These sport teams are led by the athletic director from the Boys and Girl Club.

Things we want you to know!!
• ASES is a grant provided by the state of California. In order to abide by the grant and its rules, we have to follow strict "pick-up" guidelines. Please make sure you pick your child/children up between 5:50- 6:00 pm. This is crucial because if ASES doesn't provide acceptable attendance and duration in the program, the state could decrease our funding.
• Also, if you pick your child/children up after 6:00 pm, there will be a $2.00 late fee charged for every minute that you are late.
• Lastly, there is a small membership fee of $75.00 a year or $37.50 a semester. We accept cash or check only. If you are paying by check, please make it out to Burbank Education Foundation.

Burbank Unified School District offers a State-Subsidized child development program for students whose parents meet income eligibility requirements. Come by the office and fill out a waiting list application to see if you qualify!

Hours of Operation are 7:00am- 6:00pm, Monday through Friday, 12 months a year

Preschool Classroom (for 3 and 4 year-olds *must be potty trained) and school-age classroom for TK-5^th Grade
