Outdoor Science School

Outdoor Science School (OSS) has been an integral component of the educational experience at George Washington Elementary for our fifth grade students.  Teachers and classmates leave their traditional classrooms for a few days and experience a different type of education; one taught by the likes of rangers, naturists, and ecologists.  All this happens far away from Burbank, in the high elevations of the Angeles National Forest at Thousand Pines Outdoor Science School. It is located in Crestline, California.  The Outdoor Science School curriculum is focused on the study of ecosytems and is coordinated with the California State Science Framework and the Science Content Standards.  At OSS, students are able to learn through experiencing and observing the natural environments that surround our school and community.
